Distance from Namche Bazar to Tengboche on Day 4:
The fourth trekking day takes us from Namche (3440m) to Tengboche(3860m) situated 420 m above Namche which is a 10.4 km walking distance that takes around 5 to 6 hours usually.
Distance from Tengboche to Dingboche on Day 5:
On our fifth trekking day, we gain 550m altitude while trekking from Tengboche to Dingboche(4410m) which takes approximately 5 to 6 hours of trekking activity. Now as we have crossed the 4000m mark, it's time for our second acclimatization day at Dingboche.
Dingboche acclimatization on Day 6:
Our second acclimatization day. We don’t take rest on rest days, we ascend to higher altitude and descend. Doing this helps our body acclimatize. So we hike up to Nagarjun Hill at 5100m and descend to Dingboche. Just a quick note that the views from the top of Nagarjun hill are simply awesome.
Distance from Dingboche to Lobuche on Day 7:
Day seven is a lucky day indeed as we leave behind the tropical green region and enter into the alpine atmosphere. We ascend from 4410m altitude at Dingboche to 4910m at Lobuche via Pheriche at 4240m. The total walking distance is 7.7km and takes 5 to 6 hours of trekking activity in general.
Distance from Lobuche to Gorakshep, then to EBC and back to Gorakshep on Day 8:
Big day today, challenging and longest one too. Early morning we head from Lobuche to Gorakshep(5181m, 4.3km and takes 3 to 4 hours walk). Book our tea house and go further up towards our destination Everest base camp(5364m) which takes around the next 2 to 3 hours. After stepping at the base camp of the highest Himalaya, we return to Gorakshep for an overnight stay. So, the total walking distance for a day would be around 8 to 9 hours covering nearly 10km total distance at high altitude.
Distance from Gorakshep to Kalapathher, back to Gorakshep then trek to Pheriche on Day 9:
From Gorakshep, we don’t miss the golden opportunity to witness golden sunrise views over the highest Himalayas, so, very early in the morning, we hike towards Kalapathher(5545m) which is the highest point we reach during EBC. It takes less than an hour to cover a 1.2km distance from Gorakshep to Kalapthher. After getting awesome Himalayan views, we return to Gorakshep and descend towards Pheriche(4210m) which is a 9.6 km walk from Gorakshep. Tough day with a total of 7 to 8 hours walk.
Distance from Pheriche to Namche on Day 10:
A huge drop in altitude brings an increase in oxygen level making us easier to breathe. Walking through Pangboche, Tengboche, we arrive at Namche Bazar(3440m) today. It will be a 5 to 6 hours downhill trek.
Distance from Namche to Lukla on Day 11:
Final trekking day of our EBC trek, that takes us from where it all started at Lukla. After an easy 6 to 7 hours of downhill walk through refreshing forests, with an altitude drop from 3440m to 2800m; we fly back to Kathmandu (1338m) on a 40 min flight the next day.
