Langtang trek offers great natural highlights and cultural insights in the Langtang region of Nepal. To witness the best highlight of this trip, you have to make all the way towards Kyangin ri which is the highest point of this trek at 4772 meters above sea level. This viewpoint is often compared to Kalapathher in the Everest region. Excellent views of Langtang Himalayas and neighboring peaks are visible from Kyangin ri, the site where you must go during Langtang Valley Trek. The trip and highlights are summarized as follows.
Trek to Langtang valley usually begins as we take a drive through the foothills of mountains from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi. Then following the trekking trails through Lama Hotel and Langtang village, Kyangin Gompa is reached where we visit ancient monastery, nearby cheese factory and stay one more night for proper acclimatization. This is the point from where most of the travelers push forward towards Kyangin Gompa early in the morning.
It can be guessed that the top with plenty of prayer flags flattering is Kyangin ri located behind the Kyangin Gompa. The entire trail from Kyangin Gompa to Kyangin ri is not seen from the top. Many hikers return from the mid-way thinking that it is the top, but, the real peak of Kyangin ri is further above that offers even more outstanding views of snow-capped mountains.
Enjoy excellent views of the Himalayas from the top of Kyangin Ri. Along with the great Langtang Himalayas, also view the glacier moraines flowing down the peaks. Langtang Lirung, Yala Peak, Chubru, Yabru, Tesrgo are few peaks to spot from top. If you are facing southwest, then another viewpoint at an even higher altitude is seen called Tesrgo Ri or Cherku ri. If you are well prepared with packed lunch then, climb up to Tsergo ri is also possible.
In this way, you can get to Kyangin Ri or Tsergo Ri during your Langtang trekking adventures. After being there at the top, the same way is taken to return to Kathmandu valley. Or you have an option to head eastern trails towards Gosaikunda and return to Kathmandu via Sivapuri National Park and Sundarijal.
