Have you been to Kathmandu (the capital city of Nepal) before? If you have been then you must be familiar with the major attractions of Kathmandu. World Heritage Sites like Monkey Temple of Swayambhunath, Kathmandu Durbar Square, Patan Durbar Square, Bhaktapur Durbar Square, Pashupatinath temple, and Boudhanath stupa are the most common attractions in Kathmandu valley.
Do you know that there is good news for all local and foreign travelers that recently an awesome attraction has been added in the capital city of Kathmandu? The attraction is “Chandragiri Hills” in southern Kathmandu next to Thankot Checkpost.
This attraction can be reached via public transport or private car, bike easily within few minutes from central Kathmandu (Thamel, Newroad area). The major attraction is an 8-10 minutes smooth cable car ride from the bottom of the hill to the top with amazing views. Upon arrival at top of the hill, enjoy awesome views of Kathmandu valley from the top. There you can also visit Shiva Temple too. Alongside, at 2350 m above sea level, at top of the hill, there is also a restaurant offering its services, and resorts are opened.
Chandragiri is the name of the hill, and it is the same place where former King Prithivi Narayan Shah saw the beauty of Kathmandu valley and couldn’t stop himself from conquering it. So, it is a historically important site too. On a clear day, a 180-degree panorama aerial view of the whole Kathmandu valley is seen. The cable car ride itself is amusing as it takes you up through the clouds.
Therefore, if you are in Nepal or planning to visit Nepal, then it is recommended to visit this place while you are in Kathmandu.
