Getting Into Nepal

Tribhuvan International Airport at Kathmandu is the only international airport in Nepal. There are a number of International Airlines with direct non-stop flights from the Middle East and Asia to Kathmandu. People interested in visiting Nepal from Europe or America have to adjust their flight to Dubai, Doha, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Bankok, Delhi, Mumbai , Culcutta, Banglore Dhaka, or Shanghai.

1. Thai Airways operates daily flight between Bangkok and Kathmandu and connects Kathmandu to/from Hongkong, Singapore, Osaka, Delhi, and Mumbai.
2. Dragon Air operates daily flight between Hongkong and Kathmandu.
3. Qatar Airways has daily flight between Doha and Kathmandu with connecting flights to/from Europe and America.
4. Gulf Air operates daily flight between UAE and Kathmandu with connecting flights to/from Europe and America.
5. Indian Airlines and Jet Airlines have frequent flights (2-3 flights a day) between Delhi, Calcutta, Banglore, Varanasi and Kathmandu
6. Turkish Airlines is one of the reasonable airlines connecting to Kathmandu to/from Europe and America
7. Air China flies between Lhasa, with connecting flights to/from mainland China.
8. Austrian Airlines flies between Vienna and Kathmandu once a week
9. Biman Bangladesh connects Kathmandu to/from Dhaka in Bangladesh
10. China Southern Airlines connects Kathmandu to Lhasa in Tibetan Autonomous Region of China
11. Druk Air connects Kathmandu to/from Paro in Bhutan and to/from New Delhi in India
12. Silk Air (Singapore Airlines) connects Kathmandu from Singapore
13. Nepal National Carrier Nepal Airlines has connections to/from Delhi and Mumbai in India; Bangkok in Thailand; Osaka in Japan; Hong Kong and Shanghai in China; Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia; Dubai in United Arab Emirates and Singapore.

BY LAND

You can enter Nepal overland both Tibet and India. If you are in Tibet, you can enter Nepal by crossing the border at Kodari and then take a bus to Kathmandu. This will take you 7 to 10 hours depending on the road conditions. The easiest and hassle free overland route to Nepal from Gorakhpur, India is via Sunauli/Belahiya border post using train up to border post. The only direct buses from this route to Kathmandu run at night and take approximately 9 hours. Raxaul/Birgung border post can also be used to visit Nepal. But this may not leave you with a pleasant travelling experience. If you are in Darjeeling you can come to Nepal via Karkabhitta. There are also several border crossings in west Nepal.
