Sankhu to Nagarkot Day Hike is a beautiful option for those who do not have time to do longer hikes in the popular hiking destinations of Nepal like Everest and the Annapurna region. The Sankhu to Nagarkot day hike gives the hikers a good picture of the Nepalese village lifestyle along with an occasional glimpse of distant Himalayas on a clear day. Sankhu, an ancient Newari village, is about one and half hours’ drive from Kathmandu. Sankhu also houses a very famous pilgrimage site with the temple of Vajrajogini. After 3-4 hours of walk, sometimes through alpine-style forests and sometimes through the local villages, we reach Nagarkot. Nagarkot is a hill station on the edge of a valley and offers superb views of the mountains and Kathmandu valley. The sunset and sunrise view from Nagarkot is very admired, so you are suggested to stay the night at Nagarkot to enjoy the Himalayan views at sunset and sunrise.
